Low Cost, but effective COVID-19 Monitoring at the U of S
A research team at the University of Saskatchewan has been monitoring COVID-19 samples from student residences on campus. They have developed a low-cost way of passively collecting samples from wastewater. Staff gathered samples five days a week for eight months that gave almost real time data
The method offers a chance to quickly respond to outbreaks on campus. Markus Brinkmann is associate professor in University of Saskatchewan's School of Environment and Sustainability and one of the co-authors of the study. He spoke to Garth Materie about the research.
